In the competitive landscape of construction and heavy industry, the value of having a skilled, safety-trained workforce cannot be overstated. The OSHA-30-hour course is a comprehensive safety program designed for anyone involved in general industry. This training covers a broad spectrum of safety subjects, ranging from the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. It also includes information regarding workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. Ultimately, the objective is to promote safe and healthful work environments, mitigating risks and safeguarding the well-being of all involved.

At Nubian Directions II, Inc., our YouthBuild/AmeriCorps students have been immersing themselves in this rigorous curriculum. Countless hours of dedication, meticulous study, and real-world practice have been invested, with every student not just looking to pass their exams, but to master the knowledge and skills imparted.

A significant part of this learning journey involved hands-on experience with Fall Arrest Systems (FAS). These systems are crucial in preventing falls from heights, one of the most common safety hazards in the construction industry. The students learned the essential components of FAS, including full-body harnesses, connectors, and anchorage points, and how to put them together efficiently and effectively. The friendly race to see which group could assemble their FAS the quickest added an element of fun and competition to this critical safety exercise.

And now, their hard work has paid off. We are immensely proud to announce that all of our YouthBuild/AmeriCorps students have received their OSHA-30 certification. The elation and sense of accomplishment in each student is palpable, for they have not only gained a valuable certification but have also acquired a set of skills that could one day save lives.
