We provide technology training, work readiness skills training and educational support services for youth and adults that would improve workforce skills in an effort to foster sustainable community development.
Mission Statement
The mission of the New Directions YouthBuild AmeriCorps Partnership is to awaken the motivation in YouthBuild participants to achieve personal growth; academic, vocational, and leadership development; and community service skills and competencies; to pursue challenging careers, life-long learning, and volunteerism and to become mentally and morally tough by accepting responsibility for themselves, their families and their communities.
YouthBuild Statement
We offer GED classes in partnership with Dutchess Community College, and pay you for attendance + completion. We provide you with training and jobs to make money. You will receive job-ready certifications for completely free. Through mentorship and training, you will set an example for the next generation and inspire others with your accomplishments.
Our History
- 1995
Nubian Directions II was founded, providing computer training and business services.
- 2004
NDI partnered with YouthBuild to offer more services to local struggling youth.
- 2004
NDI began offering an education and work training program to aid the issues that youth were facing in the community.
- 2006
The program became a massive success, leading to local affordable housing being built by NDI students.
- 2012
With the program’s success, space became limited. NDI purchased a 22,000 SQ FT warehouse to expand services to the entire Dutchess County.
- Present Day
NDI continues to serve the youth and community while raising funds to construct their community center.
