City of Poughkeepsie Beautification Initiative

Thanks to our Mayor, John C. Tkazyik and the City of Poughkeepsie Common Council, for the third consecutive year Nubian Directions has been privileged to maintain and beautify flower gardens and planters owned by the City.  To accomplish this, we employ a master gardener, Dara Levine, and 8 to 10 Poughkeepsie youth to beautify the approximately 21 gardens situated in and around the City of Poughkeepsie.  We engage youth workers in activities such as planting, weeding, watering, and trellising.  In addition to garden maintenance, they participate in activities that develop leadership and relationship skills.
